At the end of each year, all honors students reflect on the past two semesters. This includes what they have learned, how they grew, what they accomplished and what they hope to accomplish in the future. Looking back on the past has been a source of growth for me and has helped me find the path I want to take in the future. Below are the reflections of my time at UC.
A Year of Discovery
2020-2021
Adjusting to living life from home has lead to the disintegration of some of my work/life boundaries and I had to remember to take time for me. Through some self reflection and exploration, I re-discovered activities I was passionate about and how to make time for them in my life. I started the journey of preparing myself for the "real-world" and what life is going to look like after graduation.
This year started off fairly normal, but it has turned into one of the most interesting years of my life and will definitely be one for the history books. I had the opportunity to travel to Iceland and South Africa (almost), I had my first co-op and then I did everything from home. The last couple months have been a steep learning curve as I adapted to working from home, taking classes from home and doing everything else from home.
I started this year with a bit of trepidation as I started a new major. I decided it was time to make some changes in my life and the only way to make them was to step out of my comfort zone. I am now a Marketing Major and a ROAR Tour Guide, both of which are some of the best decisions I've made. My future holds more uncertainty for sure, but now there is a world of opportunities waiting for me to explore.
My first year in college has come to an end and I want to reflect on all of the firsts I have experienced. I moved away from home, started college and went abroad for the first time. With everything changing, it is good to look back on what I learned and what that means for the future.
