The Atacama: Connecting Earth & Sky Through a Human Perspective
I went to South America with a group of honors students from a variety of majors to study the Anthropology, Astronomy and Geology of Chile. The trip itself was an enlightening exploration into a culture that not only values its history, but continues to utilize its impact in everyday life. We spent time visiting important historical sites and listening to lectures about Chile's history. Aside from its fascinating history, the country itself was beautiful and highly photogenic. We went to expansive salt flats inhabited by brightly colored flamingos, vibrant farming villages covered in foliage despite the desert climate and turquoise lakes that glittered in the sunlight.
