At the beginning of the fall semester I was faced with a fork in the road. I was on a path that had a clear goal and an almost certain career at the end of it. The problem was that it was not necessarily the path that I wanted to be on. A year ago I went abroad to Austria for a week and during that trip I found a sense of freedom and autonomy that I wasn't experiencing in my everyday life. Over the summer I decided to make a change in my life so I could be on a path that excited me and I was passionate about. I changed my major from Communication Sciences and Disorders to Marketing with a double minor in Business Analytics and Psychology. When I was trying to decide what major would be a better fit for me I drew from my past experiences to help choose. In high school I spent my senior year as the Business Manager for a national award winning News Magazine and that gave me some idea as to what direction I wanted to go. I am also fascinated by how the brain works and how we makes decisions. This combination of experience and passion is how I decided what my new major would be. My first major had a fairly certain path, but now I face uncertainty about my future and what career I will have. As much as the idea of the unknown terrifies me, it also excites me. There is a whole world of opportunity for me to discover and I am ready to step out of my comfort zone to do so.
